The Cal High track team had a wonderful season this year. They had amazing players at the freshman, JV, and Varsity levels. The runners, jumpers, and throwers all had a role in all grades and genders. They kept up a fight with many schools and came out on top in almost all the meets. Young athletes improved in the stuff they do throughout the season, and a lot of them stepped up when players got hurt, also. Overall, this was an amazing season and journey for the young athletes, and we can’t wait to see more from them in the future. Now let’s read about their amazing performance in league prelims and finals.

Del Rio League prelims and finals were very electric this year. Where Cal High, La Serna, Whittier, El Rancho, and Santa Fe competed against one another. A lot of good things were going well for Cal High, La Serna, and El Rancho. But Whittier and Santa Fe were falling back a little bit. The 100m and 200m La Serna and Cal High varsity teams had a very good advantage. The 400m Santa Fe varsity had stepped up as well. For the JV 100m, 200m, and 400m, La Serna dominated. For Frosh/Soph 2, La Serna and El Rancho runners stood out in the 100m and 200m. But the 400m Cal High had a lot of top performers for Frosh/Soph. In the relays like 4×1 and 4×4, La Serna took the win for Var and Frosh/Soph for both genders, but got DQ in JV boys, where Cal High took the win. La Serna and Cal High were going head-to-head in all levels of the 4×1 relay, both placing 1st and 2nd. Cal High’s Frosh/Soph boys 4×1 was leading against La Serna, where it looked like they were going to take the lead against them, but on the 3rd leg of the relay, they ended up getting DQ by miscommunication, and La Serna ended up taking the finals win with the gold medal. Cal High Frosh/Soph girls made a very impressive performance in the 4×4, taking the win over El Rancho and La Serna. In High Jump, Pole Vault, Triple Jump, Long Jump, Discus, and Shot Put, Cal High had an amazing competition and performance for the young athletes.
