Navigating high school can be overwhelming with so many sports and clubs to choose from. The real challenge is finding a place where you truly fit in, feel comfortable, and feel seen.
The Performance club is a group of students who perform in front of the school during lunch or other school events. But not only do students perform, so do the teachers! Some teachers who enjoy singing or playing instruments are also members of the club. Seeing students and Teachers going out to try new things and perform in front of the school is motivating and fun to see.
So, to answer my question, should I join the performance club? And my answer would be yes, you should give it a shot! I joined the performance club pretty late in the year and did 2 performances. It was a great experience and brought me out of my shell to perform in front of people, and I believe it could bring more people to feel that way. In my experience, I can share that being in this club will be fun and exciting, learning to meet new people, becoming friends, and performing live music. If you are someone with or without experience in performing, but would like to get a feel of what it is like to perform, this is the club for you, because it will be a great experience to learn how it is to perform and share your talent.
Ultimately, what makes the Performance Club so special is the process. Practices take place during nutrition and lunch, and there is a unique thrill in auditioning and rehearsing. It is incredible to hear your song come together alongside a live drummer, guitarist, bassist, and pianist. Over time, the club becomes more than just a place to practice; it becomes a community. One of the most rewarding parts is the early morning setup and soundcheck, which makes you feel like an essential part of a real production. I hope this gives you a glimpse into our world, and I look forward to seeing you shine on stage with us!
