As the final chapters of the school year at California High School come to a close, it feels like we’re about to turn the last page before summer’s new story begins. It’s hard not to look back and smile at all the memories seniors and all students alike have made this year. Filled with everything from spirit weeks hosted by our ASB, late-night football games to late-night study sessions and last-minute homework assignments. Now, as we count down the days to graduation, there’s a special energy in the air. A mix of excitement, nostalgia, and a little bit of nervousness about what the new year has in store.
One of the biggest things on seniors’ minds right now is the senior projects. You might’ve witnessed a senior carrying around flash cards and waiting outside of English classrooms in business attire. The worry about deadlines, ideas, perfecting that one slide, getting the timing and flow perfectly– it’s hard. However, this is perfectly planned. The senior projects are there to not only challenge students for the real world, but they’re also a chance to hone in on your skills professionally. As long as students have their best effort in store and are putting their minds to work by staying focused, everything will work out fine. Sometimes all anyone needs is a deep breath, a nap, and a good pat on the back for how far they’ve come. Remember that you are more capable than you think you are, and the only thing holding you back is yourself.
The final months of high school can feel bittersweet, but they’re also a time to reminisce and celebrate how far you’ve come. The whole school is rooting for you. You’ve grown, learned, and made friendships that will last long after the bells have rung. So, along with worrying about senior projects, make sure to remind yourself that you’ve got lots more adventures ahead. After all, you’ve come this far, and that is definitely worth being proud of.
