After long Rehearsals, the actors in the fall play were amazing on stage. The audience gets to see the actors play their characters but they don’t get to know them outside of the performance.
“The Twelve Huntsmen” had many astonishing characters. The actors received much praise. Clover Morris, played Prince Bartholomew, Prince Karl, and ensemble roles. Clover was “very excited to perform” but also “very nervous”. “The anticipation had built up for so long” so Clover wanted to put his best foot forward.
Some actors plan on acting outside of highschool. Kayli Herrera who played “The Silent One” said, “I am acting just for the fun of it and for the high school experience”. Others enjoy acting and want to keep it in their highschool years.
The actors are also involved in other programs such as Donny Castro who played “Servant”. “I’m in four clubs, I love to hang out with my friends, play volleyball, or even skate” Like Donny most of the actors balance their other clubs along with the play. Not only that but they also have to keep their grades up and keep up with homework to remain in the play as the required GPA is a “2.5”.
An actor can be cast as someone similar to them or someone completely different. For some, getting into character could be hard. Clover stated “ I imagine the ‘moment before’ it’s a technique where you imagine the way your character feels and what they are doing before they enter on stage”. It is one thing to memorize your lines but to get to know your character helps immensely.
Donny added, “The character I tried out for was comedic, funny, and all over the place which reminded me of myself”. This made it easy for him to audition as he could connect with the character.
The actors in the play are more than the characters they played on stage. They endured long rehearsals and worked hard to get their final product; the show. As an audience it’s important to remember these characters are real people and sometimes it can be interesting to learn about them outside of the show.
