The annual Food Fest at Cal High is quite an experience for those new and old. Not only does this event provide a way to enjoy delicious food and see the types of clubs and academies available at the school, but it also provides an excellent way for students to relax, whether it be from tests, upcoming finals, or nearby AP testing.
This year, Cal High’s food fest had a lot to offer with a vast array of foods from the MLB’s bacon-wrapped hot dogs to the GLB’s fruit cups. But there wasn’t just food there; drink options were also available. The Business Academy and Puente were selling delicious iced coffees, and Boys Volleyball served Thai and matcha tea. However, if you just wanted a refresher, Campus Light had some free water.
The top foods in the food fest were definitely the pizzas being sold by Wrestling and the Soroptimist club, a close second to the top spot may have to be the MLB’s bacon-wrapped hot dogs, which sold, showing people’s enjoyment for this delicious food!
While walking around, there were lots of popsicles, those were a favorite frozen treat. As well as the Choir’s quesadillas, heard a lot of good from a lot a people. The chocolate-covered strawberries were also a fun snack for the day, very tasty, I was told.
There are also those who are selfless individuals who choose to volunteer their time as part of a club or academy, which allows the Food Fest to operate smoothly, and can be an exciting experience, according to those who work at the booths. As one person had put the experience into terms, “You can get a lot of support from other members of your club and work together and bond.” Showing the true experience of those who dedicate part of their time to a club that they are passionate about.
Yet, the experience of volunteering can also have some negative traits, as it limits the time for those who volunteer to be able to enjoy the food that surrounds them, and may be quite stressful. However, according to multiple accounts, the experience of a volunteer shows that either working or enjoying it allows an individual to deepen their bonds with their peers, even through the slight hardship, as they are able to see all that Cal High has to offer.
These experiences show that the annual tradition of the Cal High Food Fest provides a truly unique experience at Cal High. As well as proving that it is the perfect way to celebrate the end of another year as a condor.
