During the holidays, I love snuggling up on the couch, hot chocolate in hand, with a warm blanket, and ready to put on a Christmas film. My go-to and forever favorite will always be Good Luck Charlie, It’s Christmas! There is just something about this movie that never gets old. It captures holiday cheer while maintaining humor and the importance of being with family, showing the audience what Christmas is all about. But when chaos strikes, and Amy and Teddy are stranded at the airport, how will they celebrate Christmas with the rest of their family if not together? Let us unwrap this movie and see what it has to offer.
The 2011 film, directed by Paul Hoen, follows the Duncan family, Teddy, PJ, Gabe, and Charlie, including their parents, Amy and Bob. It is a stressful time for them as they prepare to leave Colorado and go to Palm Springs for Christmas. The oldest sibling, Teddy, is reminded that she wants to leave alone when the family leaves for Palm Springs to hang out with her friend in Florida. That does not happen, as her mom is against the idea. The family faces several challenges, including car trouble and missed flights. Teddy and Amy are forced to walk five miles after their car breaks down. When the family reunites, they understand that the importance of Christmas is spent with the ones you love after being apart. Regardless of the obstacles, being with family is what matters the most.
Although this movie is not well-known, it will always hold a special place in my heart. Something about watching it now brings back so much nostalgia. Not to mention, it includes humorous and relatable situations, which makes the audience love the film even more. While the movie can be funny at times, it does not eliminate its heartfelt moments, which are necessary for the film and for audiences to take something away from these moments. This movie has absolutely no flaws. It is the ideal Christmas movie that shows how stressful the holidays can be. This movie successfully presents its multiple themes in a lighthearted, humorous way for kids and adults to understand.
Overall, I will always give this movie a 10/10. If it sounds like your cup of tea, I assure you it will be one of your favorite Christmas movies by the end. It is worth a watch. I know you will enjoy it as much as I do.
Happy Holidays!
