Well, folks, Spirit Week is over, and what a week it has been! With a variety of activities our various clubs at Cal have done over the past few days, only one of them could come out on top. But for the folks who couldn’t make it to the games, here’s a quick recap of them!
Day 1: Sleigh Riding
In this game, our team members were put on trikes (we tried calling Santa up for his sleigh, but that was unfortunately out of the school’s budget), and aimed to collect cups in order to build a tower. The highest tower at the end takes it all! The theme for this day was white out.
Day 2: Reindeer Games
In this event, teams tried their hand at shuttling teammates on their backs, back and forth in order to get ornaments. These ornaments were used to decorate each team’s respective trees. The first to get 5 ornaments on their tree won! The theme for this day was famous holiday figures.
Day 3: The Present Wrapping
In this event, after passing their whole team through a hula hoop, our teams rushed to open presents. These presents contained ribbon, which these teams used to wrap up their companions. These wrapped “presents” then had to saunter over to a balloon and to pop it in order to be declared the winner. Our “presents” were wrapped in a festive scarf for today as well.
Day 4: Songs of the Holidays
This day, our groups had to name various songs, with the first to buzz in being asked to deliver the name of the song as well as its artist. The theme for this day was festive sweaters, and we saw some pretty creative ones out on campus! At the end of this day, the Merry Mewers were in the lead, the Dodgeball Club was second, and the Scholars Academy was in 3rd.
Day 5: Tinsel Tie-Together
The final day of our festivities, two teammates of the groups still remaining at this point of our celebrations were tied together. Then, they had to find various items, with the final item ultimately calling for the two of them to take a special photo together, both bundled in their warm pajamas.
Overall, our third place finisher was the Merry Mewers, our second place finisher was the Senior Class Council, and our overall winner was the Dodgeball Club! Good job to all the clubs who participated in these games and showed both their school and holiday spirit, we wish a very Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.
