As the day of the band Jamboree has come, many people are excited to see what all the other schools in our district have to offer us. Many students and parents of these talented students have gathered around to see all the schools come to one stadium and perform what they had been longing for, for a very long time.
Before the event had started all the school’s marching bands had set on the field practicing to play ‘God Bless America’ at the end of their long-awaited event. The participating schools were La Serna High School, Pioneer High School, Santa Fe High School, Whittier High School, and our home school California High School. These 5 schools have come together in the Thorstenson stadium to show everyone their marching band, color guard, percussion, cheer, song, and drill team.
When the event promptly started at 7 pm, the Whittier High School marching band was ready to take to the field to show everyone their show called “Checkmate “. The band had shown their good musicality and visual skills. As the show went on there were many surprises that the audience could have not expected. The costumes and props are in white black and red, the props As the movements are ongoing and the amazing music is playing, the end of the show reaches. It gives hope to the audience for great performances all night long.
As the night went on, the Pioneer Titan marching band performed their show ‘Phantom of the Opera’. When the band had been called onto the field, the announcer told the audience the name of their show, and many people were excited to hear the popular performance The green marching band suits and the purple color guard flags perfectly matched together calling the eyes of many people in the audience. The band might be small but the sound is very powerful, capturing the gazing coming from the audience.
Before the California High School Entertainment Unit had entered the field, the Cal High Cheers had shown their amazing stunts and performances. The Cal High cheer was welcomed by the announcer and as they set up, many people including people from different schools cheered them on. All the people in the stands, on both sidelines, had welcomed them and showered the Cal High Cheer with loud applauses and great gestures. Soon after the cheer had left the field, the announcer called the Cal High entertainment unit onto the field.
As the entertainment unit had been set up, all the props being put to their places, and the front ensemble getting ready, the band had been met with some difficulties. During the time it was getting cleared up, the announcer played music for the amusement of the audience members and band members who were standing in the field to keep calm. After it had all been resolved, the announcer called to the drum major Adam Richards. “ Drum Major, is your band ready?” The band had begun showing their show called “ New York State of Mind” As the first movement ended, the ballad, a very dramatic change in tempo shown, as the show went on, you could hear the very popular song “Empire State of Mind” by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys being played by the band. As the end of the ballad came, the third movement was something the audience had not seen, its very jumpy and very unanticipated attacks had reached the audience. The drum, front ensemble solo, and saxophone solo, were keeping everyone intact with all the new and frightening musical notes playing. At the end of the performance, the Cal High Entertainment Unit was showered with lots of love and gestures.
Coming towards the end of the event, all the bands had lined up one behind another. All the bands had been called to play their fight song. As each band had done a lap around the track they entered one by one to their spaces and finally played ‘God Bless America’. Just like that, the event had ended leaving everyone who had been there rooting for them prouder than ever.
