How to keep up with the distance learning workload

It’s not a surprise that distance learning has been a difficult task for both teachers and students alike. It can be tiring to have to keep up with completing and creating assignments when you have to stare at a screen all day. So how exactly can all these students maintain exceptional grades?

At times it seems almost impossible to keep up with the countless assignments that teachers constantly throw at us. We seem to forget that our teachers are in fact not the cruel beings that we make them up to be. They really have no choice but to push us to our limit, and sometimes even further. All we can do is take a deep breath and not let the workload overwhelm us. I can not count the number of times I have let the amount of work I am given negatively affect me. Here are a few ways to combat the several assignments you may have.

  • Spread out your workload. Try not to work on so many assignments on the same day, this can overwhelm you and negatively affect your mental health. This approach may also help you avoid procrastination.
  • Take breaks between each assignment. Take a small break and step out of your work station. You can get yourself a snack, watch a video, and even try to stretch a little. It’s not good to stay in the same sedentary position for too long. (Note: This approach was given by a peer in their Sophomore year)
  • Stay away from distractions. Try to do your work in a quiet and calm environment. Too much noise may distract you and prevent you from completing your work.
  • Get a planner. Keeping a planner lets you write down all of your assignments and when they are due. This can keep you from forgetting your homework and letting your missing assignments pile up. (Note: You can also highlight the assignments you completed so that you can track what you’ve already done.)

It’s important to not let the your schoolwork overwhelm you and take over your free time. Try following these few steps to prevent the work from piling up and becoming a burden.
